The Victron Energy Smart Battery Sense enhances charging efficiency by accurately measuring the voltage directly at the battery bank terminals, avoiding errors caused by voltage loss due to cable resistance. This ensures the correct charge voltage is applied, improving battery performance. For lead batteries, the device uses battery temperature data to adjust the charge voltages, ensuring that cold batteries receive increased voltage and hot batteries receive decreased voltage for optimal charging. For lithium batteries, it uses temperature data to disable charging if the batteries are too cold, preventing permanent damage that can occur when charging lithium cells below freezing.
The Smart Battery Sense connects wirelessly to one or more Solar Chargers using VE.Smart Network, a Bluetooth Smart-based technology. This wireless connection ensures convenient, tidy installation with no need for additional wires. Setup is easy through the VictronConnect app, and the device can be used with 12V, 24V, or 48V battery banks. Installation is simple: just connect the unit’s two eyelets to the battery terminals and attach the Smart Battery Sensedirectly to the battery body using its self-adhesive strip.
